Large scale land investments and food security in agropastoral areas of Ethiopia

Abstract In Ethiopia, large scale land investments have been expanding into pastoral regions. However, little is known about the consequences of these on food security community. Using Living Standard Measurement Survey data World Bank, we find that, average, 32% respondents from (agro-)pastoral regions are insecure. After controlling for confounders, proximity to associated with additional intake up 745 kcal per day adult compared households located farther away a investment. Proximity investment has no significant effect coping strategies based security. For in investment, significantly increases access roads and markets. positive household consumption not necessarily because direct benefits investments, but due soil quality near investments.
